Sister Dusk

Acrylic, resin, wood, mirror, LED light strip

It is very important that you can swap out the body adornment. Look into the mirror, see yourself as I see you. Wear the item of your calling, for objects hold the power of story, story erupting from your memories, from your future, from the very chasm of life.

This sister, Sister Dusk, is an avatar to inhabit in the evening shade. She bows to no one, but comforts those who know no comfort. It is the hour of dusk, when the veil is gossamer and lithe between this world and the others, and the unfamiliar sounds, scents, and sensations that pass through often initially inspire a sense of unease to those on this side. But Sister Dusk will almost imperceptibly stroke the inside of your arms with her long, pointed nails, ever so softly like thistles blowing gently over a tree trunk. It is by peering into the mirror that one sees not simply oneself but their countenance as Other — moving purposefully toward the veil, eager to play. It is her head adornment which is the first to penetrate the veil, and it is your agency to select and display the most appropriate for your adventure.

Sister Dusk’s sibling, Sister Dawn protects the tale of Big, big Bubbles.

The avatar is based on a persona I designed representing Sister Dusk.
I created this avatar first as a drawing, then as a vector graphic to be cnc’d from wood. I then hand painted the details, covered her in resin, affixed to a round mirror surface, and framed with metal holding an LED light strip. I crafted multiple, interchangeable head adornments which can be attached via an embedded magnet, thus allowing for you to decide, upon gazing in the mirror, which is most appropriate to channel the requisite power for the day.
