Three Strange Sisters

The Three Strange Sisters: Duende, Kobold, Zashiki-warashi
graphite, paper, clay, acrylics, wood, ethically harvested feathers, digital videos, other

My intersecting cultures have spaces, pockets really, of shared magic that have informed me threefold, filling me fuller then full.

Each of my graphite drawings includes a hand drawn QR code that leads to video ‘feed’ from three unique areas of the building housing this site-specific installation. Over the course of the day, the feeds change — after all, the night holds unique opportunities. Care to try to locate the sisters? Would you remain after-hours? Can you leave them an offering? What are their favorite things? Will you receive something in return if you follow the clues?

It was important for the sisters to come from my hands, drawn, sculpted, molded, and for the interaction to enable agency not only for the participants, but for the sisters also — we are not made static through manifestation, let our avatars hold power.
